Mary Jemison
Mary Jemison(1742-1833)was captured by French and Native American soldiers at a young age. She was adopted by the Seneca Nation and lived as a Seneca for the rest of her life in the Genesee Valley. She survived personal tragedy and the violence of history. She is truly among the heroic figures in American history. This image was commissioned as part of the production of "Children of the Earth: The Mary Jemison Story" which was written by Wes Kennison; its music was composed by Glenn McClure.
