New Helfta Contemplative Way of Life
I live in a room that I have made a monastic cell which I call
New Helfta. I follow a life deeply marked by the same spirit that inspired St. Gertrude , a nun of Helfta monastery in 13th Century Germany, that followed the Cistercian way of life . My cell is where I pray, meditate and study. It is located in a home in a small University town. The
New Helfta Atelier locates in a different home in town. It is my art studio in which I paint icons in various styles and other kinds of artworks. In the atelier, I also accept students who have sincere and genuine interest in learning both, the ancient egg tempera technique and the Cistercian spirituality, which has influenced and nourished me as a sacred icon painter. In this place, I also meet with a group of spiritual friends as a small community. We pray the Liturgy of the Hour, share Sunday Gospel readings, discuss spiritual matters, etc. We dedicated ourselves to love and serve God by our fidelity and perseverance in living our simple way of life consecrated to Him.|
